About Us

Founded in 1902, the Hudson Valley, NY, Professional Musicians Association is the oldest artists service organization in the county. Local 238 has more than one hundred twenty members representing musicians of all backgrounds and musical styles. Their members include the entire personnel of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, faculty at area colleges, and many of the area's music teachers and band directors. Their active membership also includes members of some of the area's top pop, rock, Latin, and alternative bands as well as the finest classical and jazz musicians. They record music, play at various venues, and teach both publicly and privately in our community.

Local 238-291 jurisdiction is all of Dutchess, Rockland, and Ulster Counties. Also Hancock, Downsville, Colchester, Andes, Middletown, Fleishmann's, and Margaretville in Delaware County. All of Orange County, except those portions which are in the Jurisdiction of Local 802, New York City. (Note: The Greenwood Lake region in Orange County is included in the Jurisdiction of Local 238-291.) All of Greene County, except the northern portion which is in the Jurisdiction of Local 14, Albany, NY. In Westchester County, the towns of Cortland, Yorktown, Somers, North Salem, Bedford, Lewisboro, New Castle, Ossining, Mt. Pleasant (east to the Saw Mill Parkway and including the villages of Pleasantville and Thornwood) and Greenburgh (south to the northern boundary of the village of Irvington and east to the Saw Mill Pkwy.) In Putnam County, the towns of Philipstown and Putnam Valley.
